The Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research, Medicine-Pediatrics Section, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a LGBTQ+ Healthcare Fellow position. This fellowship is designed to train future primary care physicians to be sensitive, comfortable, clinically knowledgeable and culturally competent in delivering healthcare to sexual and gender minority patient populations.
This one-year fellowship beginning July 1, 2026 is a junior academic appointment as a Health Sciences Clinical Instructor in both general primary care and LGBTQ+ subspecialty and specialty care. The fellow will have yearlong longitudinal clinical rotations in a variety of UCLA and affiliated clinical sites, with some flexibility in tailoring the experiences to the learning environment and career goals of the fellow.
These experiences include:
- Primary Care for MSM
- Primary Care for WSW
- Transgender Care and Hormone Management (Adults & Pediatrics)
- Urology, Gynecology and Gender-affirming Surgery including preop/postop care
- Hepatitis B & C
- HIV Treatment and Management
- High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA)
- Substance Use and Addiction Medicine
- Mental Health including LGBTQ+ Adolescents and Young Adults in Transition
- Mental Health in PLWH
- Behavioral health coursework and workshops spanning a variety of topics including
- Human sexuality, bisexual identity, affirmative psychotherapy, and LGBTQ+
- Domestic violence
- Asylum/Refugee LGBTQ+ Health
- Rural LGBTQ+ Health
Successful applicants are U.S. trained M.D.s and D.O.s with a strong interest in caring for LGBTQ+ communities and have completed or will be completing their residency training by June 30, 2026 in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics combined specialties. Applicants should also have a passion for leadership, teaching, research, and a motivation to expand the current landscape of LGBTQ+ health.

The UCLA General Internal Medicine Program has an opening for a full-time outpatient/inpatient Addiction Medicine physician serving the Greater Los Angeles area. Successful candidates will be part of an innovative care model with collaboration with Primary Care, Extensivist Medicine, and General Internal Medicine. The UCLA Palliative Care Program is seeking a dynamic full-time outpatient Palliative Care physician to support our UCLA Hematology-Oncology clinics serving the Ventura/Santa Barbara/San Luis Obispo region. The Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a postdoctoral position.
Under the mentorship and supervision of Dr. Lauren E. Wisk, the individual will conduct the statistical data analyses for the aims of a federally-funded grant investigating the role of state and federal mental health parity laws on health care utilization for adolescents and young adults, and co-leads the dissemination of study findings. This individual will work mostly independently under general supervision, in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and will need to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a quantitative field (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, health policy, health services research) is required. This individual must understand and ensure compliance with UCLA, state, and federal regulations.
Duties and tasks will include:
- Perform literature reviews, such as the effect of mental health parity laws on health care utilization
- Compile a database cataloging state mental health parity laws and specific provisions as pertinent to youth and young adults
- Conduct data management of a large survey and administrative database encompassing over 10,000 respondents
- Perform descriptive and multivariate analyses of large databases, including regression and interrupted time series analyses, with knowledge of application of survey weights
- Present work at national scientific meetings in the form of poster or oral presentations
- Under the supervision of the PI and in collaboration with the larger research team, co-author manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed academic journals
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a quantitative field (e.g., biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, health policy, health services research)
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and legal requirements.
- Experience/interest in mental health policy and quasi-experimental study designs.
- Ability to navigate numerous software programs and applications, including but not limited to SAS, Stata, R, Microsoft Office Suite
