Racial & Health Equity Programs
The Racial & Health Equity Programs include the UCLA Nephrology Racial and Health Equity Committee (RHEC) and the Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP).
The UCLA Racial and Health Equity Committee (RHEC) was created to identify factors that contribute to disparities in clinical care delivery and to provide meaningful solutions in order to achieve equitable care and improve clinical outcomes for our kidney patients.
KDSAP is a national student lead organization working to combat Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) through student career development and community outreach. KDSAP works to raise public awareness of CKD and promote early detection by providing free kidney screenings to underserved populations. KDSAP also provides undergraduate students with career development opportunities through relationships with local nephrologists, workshops, and trainings to help address the current shortage of nephrology specialists.
