Care Compliments
Sven D.
There are no words sufficient to thank Dr. Sven DeVos for his help in the fight with my wife's relapsed CNS lymphoma. His selflessness and compassion in sharing his knowledge and assistance he's given to my wife's primary oncologist is extraordinary. Dr. DeVos epitomizes what all healthcare providers should aspire to.

I Attended a Neurology appointment with Dr. Marie Kim, accompanied by my wife.
Dr. Kim conducted a thorough investigation of my cognitive health, treatment history, and reviewed results from several MRI and doctors' reports. She spent a lot of time discussing my and my wife's impressions, concerns, and wishes and concerns for the future.
After providing her own analysis, Dr. Kim then went on to discuss my treatment options, with both their relative advantages and, especially, their risks. Although I was already aware of much of this, I was in a far better position to decide how to proceed after hearing her summary. She also explained that a drug that was recently prescribed and I now am taking might also improve my situation. As a result, I decided to delay the decision to pursue further treatment for another 6 months.
To say that we were both were impressed with Dr. Kim and the appointment would be a gross understatement. Dr Kim was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, attentive, supportive, informative, pleasant, and especially caring. I can't think of any previous visit with a doctor that was this thorough, informative, and just plain good.

Dr. Sara Ptasnik is a phenomenal physician!! I have been a patient of hers since 2022. Most doctors these days just start at the monitor screen and rapidly run through a checklist of items on their agenda, leaving no time for the patients' questions. Dr. Ptasnik is the outlier in what has become impersonal farm care. I have always felt she listens to me first and makes recommendations based on your individual needs, lifestyle, and current capabilities. I always feel not only heard but understood with her positive empathy and supportive reinforcement that healing is possible. Most doctor's first approach is to numb out the symptoms so people feel better. Dr. Ptasnik is about finding the root cause and trying different options to address the root. This is the difference between temporary comfort and sustainable healing. I feel so blessed to be the beneficiary of Dr. Ptasnik's impeccable care. I value how much she humanizes the physician/patient relationship which provides so much trust. I highly recommend Dr. Ptasnik so anyone seeking East/West care and pain management. She has a long waiting list and it is worth the wait! I hope one day Dr. Ptasnik is leading her own department and training those on the team to meet patient care in the way she does. Thank you Dr. Ptasnik for being a bright light in a system many of us lose hope in. Grateful for you!!

Tamala R.
Tamala has helped me with cancer medication. I have to renew the request each year with the company and Tamala got the paperwork and faxed it to the company so I can continue treatment. She is so kind and helpful in this matter, last year she also helped me with this request. She is truly a gem working with cancer patients and is very kind. Please know her wonderful effective work that she does on a daily basis. She also follows up on all calls. Thank you, Tamala

We would like to thank nurse John A (I didn't catch his last name) in the ICU who took care of us when my father-in-law was put on comfort care recently (he was the patient in the isolation room). During a very chaotic and upsetting time, John was so compassionate, kind and understanding. He followed up on all of our requests the best he could. He really stood out! Thank you, John, you're the best!

Torrance L.
UCLA has a blood lab collection located at 3500 Lomita Blvd in Torrance CA. Each time I go there (and read Yelp if you want to have a good day) I have a consistently positive experience. And I have remarked about it before, but this time I am remarking (again) for a particular reason.
I had a student/trainee phlebotomist named Kayla (If I recall) poke me. I could tell she was nervous, but she was very calm and cool. Her hands were steady and I actually didn't feel a thing. And that is >exactly< what UCLA or any other professional organization needs; a person who is human enough to know it's ok to be nervous, but the training and gift of knowing how and when to stay cool. This young lady is just getting started off in her career and I know a good one when I see it. She's a good one; human, aware of it and trained to roll with it.
She was also very polite and the other staff who was training her did a beautiful job. You've coupled an incredibly well running lab with a truly gifted student.
Keep doing what you do, UCLA. It gives me the trust needed to feel secure in your care.

She understands and take the time with her patients. Thank you Dr McCann.

To the entire staff,
My name is Gabriel, your team cared for my father. His 3 year passing is coming up soon, but I wanted to make sure I thanked you for your amazing care that you provided to him.
He came into the Cardiac/Thoracic ICU for ECMO treatment due to complications from Covid-19. While his outcome was not what we were hoping for, you guys gave my dad the best chance for him to be better and recover and for that I am eternally grateful.
As a paramedic myself, I have seen great care be provided to many patients, and also have unfortunately witnessed poor and negligent care from other hospitals and facilities. When my dad was being transferred from JFK Hospital in Indio over to UCLA, I had great comfort knowing that he was going to be under the care of one of the most prestigious and decorated hospitals in the country. I can't thank you guys enough for giving him absolute genuine care, respect, and comforting my family during the worst time of our lives. He was extremely appreciative of all of you and always had great things to say about each nurse, doctor, and every staff member in the unit.
Even with his passing, his ECG rhythm and thumb print was provided by your gracious team to our family which we will always display in our home. Truly above and beyond care not only provided to my father, but to his family as well and I know I am one of many who will always have incredible things to say when it comes to UCLA Hospital.
Thank you all so much for everything you guys do on a daily basis. I know this field is not done for any sort of recognition, but I want to extend my sincere gratitude. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Have a wonderful day and God bless each and every one of you.

Courtney S.
I got the honor of having Courtney as my nurse. She was so professional and kind just a joy to be around. Your staff and all the people I interacted with are amazing and on another level altogether. And Cort rose above that and I don't like hospitals. Having had an amputation. The reason I was here having a blood and bone infection that affected both my heart and my left eye. The staff that treated me our second to none. I had complete confidence in everyone that walked through my door. I hope you can convey to them, how grateful I am for their service, and the many years of hardship and dedication. They went through to learn their specific professions. I only received kindness. I felt everyone I talked to truly were listening and cared about my well-being and safety. Again I would like to thank you for a most pleasurable experience in a tough situation. I wish all of you a long and happy lives. My best.

Felisha J E.
I just want to express my gratitude to Dr. Felisha Eugenio because I came in for my first visit today and it's people like her that make the doctor visits enjoyable and less stressful. I love that she didn't quickly evaluate me and went about her day. She genuinely took her time and heard me with everything I had to say. I am pleased with her service and I know she will be my primary doctor from now on. She deserves to be praised overall and thank you again for listening to me and not dismissing me. Thank you so much ?'"

Dear Administration,
I am writing to express my deep appreciation for Dr. Xiao Wang's exceptional care during
our time at the hospital. He has demonstrated a profound commitment to his patients,
consistently showing empathy, understanding, and a comprehensive knowledge of my child's
condition. His ability to listen to our concerns and tailor his approach accordingly has been
invaluable.
Dr. Wang has identified and addressed the aspects of my child's treatment that had
previously been overlooked, leading to significant improvements in her overall care. His
dedication and expertise have truly made a positive impact on her treatment journey.
I wanted to take a moment to ensure that his outstanding contributions are recognized
by the administration. He is an exemplary doctor and I am grateful for the difference he has

Alison G.
Alison is so thorough and fast at her job. She explains processes and takes initiative. I always know what to expect when I work with her and she is a great communicator. It's hard being a patient and she establishes trust during a sensitive time.

Marissa V.
Coming from someone who sees many doctors, I can't tell you enough how wonderful Dr. Marissa Vasquez is. Everything from communication, bedside manner, and just being a genuine human being. What separates her from the rest is she genuinely seems to care and actually listens to me and addresses my concerns and questions. The only demerit is that she's a Dodgers fan. 🙂 . In all seriousness, I wish all medical professionals could take a page out of her book on how to care for patients. She is truly a gem in the medical field.

This nurse delivered excellent postop care to my husband way beyond what's expected. We have never experienced this level of attentiveness and caring. She should be recognized for excellence, smarts, compassion. Thank you.

Dana H.
Dr. Dana Hunnes was so attentive and helpful during my stay. I had so many questions about the diet and it was all so new to me. I was there for 6 days, and she came by almost every day when I had questions and even when I didn't. She was incredibly helpful and I really appreciated the time she gave me.

Dr. Jason Lee provides consistently exceptional care to his patients. He is professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, respectful, and passionate about his work. My husband and I are deeply grateful for the opportunity to be under Dr. Lee's care for a number of years now.

Nadine and Eddie N.
Nadine and Eddie were two of my post op care staff and I just want to say how wonderful they were! Post-op can sometime be difficult for me with headache, pain and nausea and these two UCLA staff people were caring, professional and even had me laughing after surgery! They really exemplified the UCLA Patient Care! No wonder you are #1 in the State and #4 in the Nation with people like Nadine and Eddie on your Post Operative Surgical Staff! Thank you!

Nicole C.
She is a fantastic nurse! The first time she was my nurse & reviewed my chart & lab results she immediately identified an issue with my heprin level results due to the draw coming from the same line causing inflated results which left me under anticoagulated. This had been going on for 5 days & she was the only nurse to catch it, & thankfully correct it. Due to my extreme hypercoagulable condition, this was a lifesaving catch. She is great in all areas of care, checking & making sure my lines were functioning properly, updating chart w detailed information about my request for rheumatology consult. She was the 3rd nurse I brought it up to and the only one to document it. When the attending came by & they spoke outside of my room she came and updated me with what was discussed for my plan moving forward. Was continually attentive & made me feel safe in her hands. Truly appreciate her, she's one of the rare ones.
