March is Kidney Health Awareness Month

This past month, Mayor Lana Negrete and the Santa Monica City Council issued a proclamation recognizing March as Kidney Disease Awareness Month. The proclamation highlighted the extent of kidney disease within the United States, with almost 35.5 million Americans diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease.  Yet, due to a lack of public awareness and insufficient early diagnosis efforts within the healthcare system, almost 9/10 adults with Kidney Disease remain undiagnosed. The city proclamation aims to raise awareness and encourage adults to take an active step in their health care.
