What We Do
The committee works diligently to maintain a dynamic curriculum that upholds inclusive excellence, hosts events to build community amongst residents, and works in collaboration with the Minority Housestaff Organization (MHO) to offer mentorship to medical students
Curriculum Subcommittee
The curriculum committee is committed to ensuring our educational program prepares residents to provide high-quality care across a wide spectrum of patient needs. We offer structured learning opportunities in clinical decision-making, communication, and professionalism through venues such as grand rounds, noon conferences, and foundational +1 didactics. Our goal is to cultivate thoughtful, adaptive physicians through lectures, discussions, and workshops focused on patient-centered care, ethical practice, and professional responsibility in medicine.
Recruitment Subcommittee
Our primary objective this year is to advance our initiatives at UCLA, aiming to ultimately bolster the participation of all individuals within the internal medicine program. Creating a welcoming environment not only benefits the institution but also enriches excellence and strengthens the academic and professional experiences of students, residents, faculty, and staff.
Social Chair
Fostering a sense of community among residents is a vital endeavor. The social chair coordinates various events to provide a platform for residents to connect, share experiences, and build supportive relationships. By organizing gatherings that celebrate common bonds, we create opportunities for residents to engage in meaningful conversations, share insights, and form lasting relationships. These social events not only enhance camaraderie within our community but also contribute to clinical excellence and a supportive residency environment overall.
Medical Student Liaisons
We collaborate extensively with the David Geffen School of Medicine and Charles Drew University affinity groups to bolster and nurture medical students' interest in internal medicine in addition to optimizing the presence and assistance provided by the internal medicine residency program. The liaisons conduct various workshops covering topics like crafting personal statements, conducting mock interviews, delivering internal medicine inpatient and outpatient presentations, and honing medicine note-writing skills. The liaisons work closely with the recruitment subcommittee to enhance the medical student curriculum during their clinical rotations, making certain it encompasses patient-centered needs.
