Thank you for your interest in learning about our commitment to supporting inclusive excellence among our students, trainees, faculty, and staff. In partnership with the Office of Community Engagement & Inclusive Excellence (CEIE), our chief residents and our internal medicine residency committee work closely with trainees to provide them the support and guidance needed to excel in leading scientific discovery, produce outstanding scholarship, and provide the highest level of compassionate, high-quality care for our patients.

We understand that learning is an intensely social process and that a true sense of belonging and inclusion is paramount. In the UCLA Department of Medicine (DoM), we create opportunities for people to openly and thoughtfully explore, question and learn from each other. Through open conversation, sharing ideas, data, and knowledge we encourage a learning environment where all people feel valued, welcomed, and integral to our community’s success. We also believe that our profession has a responsibility to ensure that all people receive the highest quality of care. As part of this responsibility, we must ensure that our faculty and trainees understand the foundational factors influencing current educational and professional outcomes. From training program leadership to core faculty and engaged trainees, each member of our community has a critical role in fostering a culture of open dialogue, deep reflection, and continuous improvement in how we serve one another, our patients and the broader public.

We invite you to explore the many initiatives focused on enhancing inclusive excellence, access, and support within our residency program, our department and across the UCLA campus.
