UCLA Health Kidney Seminars
The UCLA Kidney Health Innovation and Leadership Program is an 8 week virtual summer program that gives students the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of kidney health in the scope of medicine while receiving mentorship from UCLA undergraduates!

Tijuana Orphanage Volunteering
Later in the summer, Bruin Beans Club members will be going back to volunteer at an orphanage in Tijuana.

Chantel's Transplant
In April, Bruin Beans Health Club members showed up as Chantel Saucedo received her life-saving kidney transplant at UCLA health. We wish the best to Chantel and her donor as they step into a new chapter together.

Kidney Month Santa Monica City Council Proclamation
During March, Bruin Beans Health Club members got the opportunity to speak at the Santa Monica City Council. Through the event, they were able to pass a proclamation decreeing March as Kidney Health Awareness Month.

Toy Drive
The annual Spark of Love Toy Drive with the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, ABC7, Toys for Tots, and Southern California firefighters featured CORE Kidney dropping off gifts for kids from underserved communities and honoring living kidney donors.

Rosemead Community Fair Kidney Screenings
Earlier this year, Bruin Beans Health Club Members took part in the annual health fair held in Rosemead. Members provided information about kidney disease and even gave out free blood pressure screenings.

PKD Walk
Earlier this year, Bruin Beans Health Club Members shared information about kidney health to attendees of the annual polycystic kidney disease walk.

Surf City Artisan Fair
This March, our Bruin Beans team joined the Circle of CORE at the Surf City Artisan Fair in Huntington Beach to raise awareness for National Kidney Health Month and promote kidney health in the community. They also checked vitals during the event.

Rose Parade
In January, Bruin Beans helped fundraise and decorate the Core Kidney Rose Parade Float which rode down the streets of Pasadena during the annual Rose Parade.

UCLA Anti-Racism Course
Bruin Beans students developed a proposal for an anti-racism seminar titled Understanding Structural Racism and Inequalities in Health and Kidney Care. This was a 1 unit seminar course that sought to provide students a foundation of understanding of the complex relationship between race and its impact on health outcomes through critical discussions and analysis of real-world case studies involving lupus nephritis, APOL-1, and kidney transplantation.
CORE Kidney Gala
Last year, BBHC helped put together the annual CORE Kidney Gala to support living kidney donors and recipients. The Gala featured talks from CORE Kidney members, a silent auction, and amazing conversations!

Monthly Chats: Bruin Beans Edition
Each month club members help organize monthly chats which spread information about key kidney related topics. Some past monthly chats include ones on nutrition, kidney disease, and dental health.
