About the IMC

About the Collaborative

At the UCLA Health Integrative Medicine Collaborative (IMC), we address the physical, emotional, mental, social, spiritual and environmental aspects that affect health and wellness.

We developed the IMC to make it convenient for our patients to receive effective, whole-person care and to guide future leaders in integrative health. The IMC streamlines care and improves access to the wide range of integrative medicine programs and services at UCLA Health.

UCLA Health has a long history of innovation and leadership in this field. We were the first academic medical center in Southern California to pioneer integrative medicine in 1993. Today, we continue to lead the way in integrative medicine research, education and clinical care.

Our integrative medicine specialists are nationally renowned experts in their fields. We work together to promote an approach that focuses on the mind-body connection. We invite you to learn more about the IMC, including the mission that drives us and how you can support our vision.

The IMC Pillars

The IMC comprises three pillars that form the core of our work: patient care, education and research. Each pillar is led by an experienced IMC team member who is nationally recognized as an expert in integrative medicine.

Through these three pillars, we engage with patients, medical students, health care providers, investigators and community members. Together, these pillars provide the framework for the IMC, enabling us to further our mission of advancing a whole-person approach to health care.

Focus on the Mind, Body and Spirit

Integrative medicine has been proven to enhance the health and well-being of people with a wide range of conditions. As experts in integrative care, our team manages and treats nearly every condition, disorder, disease and injury. We focus on strategies and habits that promote long-term wellness, such as proper nutrition, good sleep habits, mindfulness and regular exercise.

Our approach helps with everything from pain, chronic illness and cancer to behavioral health issues, including anxiety and depression. We also treat sleep concerns, gastrointestinal (GI) issues, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other disorders.

We are skilled at providing acupuncture, massage, reiki and other hands-on therapies, as well as nutritional advice, vitamins and supplements. We also offer customized wellness programs featuring meditation, yoga and other centering practices.
