CURE-CKD Registry Background: The CURE-CKD Registry contains the electronic health records (EHRs) for patients with or at-risk for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) at both Providence and UCLA Health. In 2025, nearly 8 million patients with CKD, diabetes, prediabetes, or hypertension were included from seven states across the Western US. The Registry is built from an annual snapshot of the EHR, which is mapped to an in-house CURE-CKD Registry Data Model.
Registry Design: The CURE-CKD Registry Data Model was designed to both efficiently organize line-level patient data and to model clinical concepts within electronic health records. The Registry includes key information domains that power research into real-world kidney disease and at-risk populations, their care patterns, and outcomes. Data processing pipelines built on top of the Registry are used to readily build datasets customized to each clinical investigation.
Data Sharing and Collaboration: CURE-CKD supports a spectrum of data sharing capabilities, from curated line-level data to purpose-built datasets supporting specific analyses. CURE-CKD data have been successfully mapped to alternative data models in support of collaborations even while using an in-house data model.
We encourage prospective collaborators to review CURE-CKD publications and to submit an intake form via our contact page to initiate further discussion about leveraging CURE-CKD data for their research.
