Care Compliments
James W.
I saw Dr. James Wu for papillary thyroid cancer, and he was the third doctor I met with to discuss my surgery and options. He took his time, explained everything thoroughly, and was willing to take the most conservative approach, which was to remove my isthmus only. He answered a couple of questions I had by email almost immediately during the pre-op stage, and on the day of surgery, he met with me before surgery and assured me that all would go well. I really felt confident that I was in the best of hands. Following surgery, I was relieved to find out that they were able to remove only the isthmus, as I had hoped for, and he felt confident they got all margins. He called me 2 days later as soon as he had the pathology results to let me know it was successful, and I was able to get on a plane and go on a work trip only 5 days post-surgery. My incision and scar is small and minimal, and overall I am just so happy with Dr. Wu's level of care, ease of scheduling appointments, etc. I will need to follow up with him over the next several years and there's no other doctor I would want to go through this process with than Dr. Wu. Also, the surgical center at UCLA and the whole nursing team were so organized, clean, caring, and attentive, I never felt like just another number. So happy with my experience and happy to be completely healthy now. For any thyroid needs, I would highly recommend Dr. Wu.

Lauren U.
I was very nervous coming in for my procedure. Once walking in to the surgical suite waiting room I was greeted by Lauren. Her kindness to me and my father was amazing. It made me feel more comfortable being there. She got us all the information for my father to be able to track my progress so he could let my family know how I was doing. It was how kind she was that stood out to me and really made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She even helped make sure one of my guest was able to find me to wish me luck for my procedure. It felt like she will go above and beyond for us and did set the bar high for everyone else to meet with her CICARE.
Thank you Lauren you are the true example of how simple kindness will go a long way on our whole visit and making us feel comfortable being there. You are amazing!

Imelda and Carla U.
On Monday, we got up to check in for my sister's surgery. The surgery itself was a two hour procedure which began approximately as planned. I was allowed into the Recovery Unit and she was still attempting to wake up from anesthesia. I was told to give it approximately three hours which I felt was understandable. However, three hours passed to four, five, six hours later and she was not fully lucid, couldn't stay awake had lung congestion, low blood pressure and her oxygen level would fall below 90. As an older sister and caretaker of her through her past five spine surgeries I knew her baseline and that this was not a normal recovery. My emotions were high/assertive as I am highly protective of my younger sister's wellbeing and factor in lack of sleep. Throughout this volatile ordeal were two Recovery Unit nurses Imelda and Clara. I want to acknowledge their professionalism in dealing with an upset/stressed big sister while STILL CARING for her. I saw Imelda and Clara had a game plan when attending to her, they did not shut me out and communicated/ explained what they were doing and what the next steps would be to ensure she was getting the appropriate treatment. They reached out to doctors, made phone calls and still asked if I needed anything. They responded to me and did not react to my aggressive behavior- they were absolutely professional and I felt confident in their decisions for my sister's care which ultimately resulted in her staying overnight. Leaving at night, Clara with a big smile waved goodbye and Imelda gave me a hug. These two women worked tirelessly throughout the day which included other patients yet again remained calm, courteous and professional when dealing with me- an upset family member. THANK YOU IMELDA and CLARA!!

I had to visit L&D for triage of vaginal bleeding. I was exhausted and super nervous. Dr. Kathryn Goldrath was extremely kind, gentle and supportive. She did a very thorough evaluation. She also spoke directly with my husband on the phone to update him directly. She is an excellent and caring doctor and I hope to see her in January when my baby is due!

A BiG SHOUT OUT to William for his extraordinary work ethics! We are always in awe every time he covers GOU for EVS services. We would always see him wiping every corner of the room and even going underneath each bed just to make sure that everything is spotless. What a way of being an advocate for the patient who will be admitted to each rooms that he touches!
Thank you very much, William!

Charles T.
The professionalism, conscientious care, and kindness of Dr. Charles Tseng--and his incredible team--meant the world during my recent outpatient surgery. Beyond Dr. Tseng's superlative skill, I was also especially grateful for my anesthesiology team, Dr. Lauren Vajda and Dr. Jane Moon, for their warmth and thorough consideration of my history. A certain Dr. Tanya (apologies, I don't know her last name) also took special care, even holding my hand as the anesthesia was administered.
To all who participated, my sincere thanks for the amazing work you do--everyday!

Loren S.
Thank you to Nurse Loren S. for her incomparable care, empathy, and thorough attention to my one-year daughter. My daughter is typically very nervous with health care professionals and cries easily with strangers. She had to endure a difficult and long procedure but Nurse Loren's technical skill and gentleness with children helped my daughter through the experience with minimal tears. My daughter was comfortable, happy, and relaxed. I am so grateful for Loren's kindness, expertise, and professionalism. I also want to commend Nancy Freeman for going above and beyond to get us scheduled for this appointment.

Patti was just amazing with my son, always engaging with him. She also noticed that my son likes grabbing on her ID and so she made him his very own ID with his name on it and it's the most thoughtful thing. She's an absolute angel.
