MARISKA W.

Mariska "W" pleasantly and professionally answered my phone call following what I'm sure was a tumultuous day of work, at 3:15PM after a holiday. I attempted to get the call through since 11AM.
Mariska W patiently 'listened' to my question, then responded in a caring, attentive, professional manner. She asked if i was OK to place me on HOLD to get the information I requested, and when she returned, she provided the answers I she was able to (that messages were sent to my physician;s office; and 2 colleagues would return my call with the information I needed (did i need to fast before blood draw scheduled for tomorrow & when would the orders be entered into my chart)
Unfortunately the colleagues who were supposed to follow up have not; however, my goal with this communique is to acknowledge Mariska "W".for a 'job very well done attempting to fill in cracks left by my physician for something she directed me to do,
Please write and give Mariska W a commendation for going beyond the call of duty at 3:30PM.
Many thanks!

Emerita (.

All of the nurses in the Postpartum Unit were WONDERFUL, but I would like to thank one of the housekeeping staff members, Emerita, in particular for her gentle thoughtfulness. Each time she came into my room, she would make sure that we were aware of which parts of the floor would be wet. She would sometimes even wait and come back if she sensed that we were busy tending to our newborn son and/or needed some privacy. This note is just a small token of our appreciation for her, along with the rest of the unit's staff.

Emily B.

I am so grateful to have had Emily and Tiffany as the nurses who looked after me when I delivered my son back in mid-April. My son was born with a short umbilical cord that was wrapped around his neck, so I ended up with an emergency c-section. However, Emily and Tiffany took excellent care of me every step of the way and made me feel calm and collected throughout the whole experience. Thank you both (and the rest of the L+D team) for helping deliver my baby boy safely! I am eternally grateful to you all.

Eugenia Y.

Eugenia is very polite nurse, her knowledge is top notch and she truly cares about her patients. She always goes above and beyond. Most importantly it she gave me a shot in the arm that I did not even feel, absolutely pain free. If you are lucky enough to have Eugenia as a nurse, you will never forget a great experience.

There is no way that we could have gotten through this ordeal without your kindness, compassion and dedication to providing the best care to my daughter. You explained everything very clearly, answered all of my questions even when they were redundant, and made sure we were always in the loop. We appreciated you checking on her and us and hope you know that your care made a difference. Thank you!

Amanda K.

I cannot thank you enough for your kindness to us, and dedication to ensuring my baby received the absolute best care while here. You listened to us, and trusted me when I said I knew something wasn't right and that made such a difference for us. Your care was above and beyond. Thank you!

Lillian C.

I am writing about, what I consider to be, an amazing Dr. as well as a special person. Dr. Lillian Chen is an exceptional physician and human being. I have worked in the medical profession for over 35 years, primarily in general practice, as a back office nurse. I have problems taking care of my own personal medical needs, due to not wanting to go to the dr. and taking care of myself. Not a good thing to admit from someone who worked in the field. Since I started going to Dr. Lillian Chen, I feel as if I will start going for my regular check ups, and care more about my type 2 diabetes. She is, by far the best of the best. I find her to be so genuine and caring, in a way I'm not used to experiencing from Dr.'s in general. She was very definite about her concern for my lack of taking care of myself, and made a comment that really stuck with me. She said "I'm going to keep you around" which in the context of that statement, meant that she really expects to keep me in check regarding my keeping appointments with her, and doing the things she requires of me for my care. She is a very sweet person, and yet very much to the point, with how she expects my part in my care with her. I am so grateful that I found her, and will do my best to start taking care of myself by being a better patient, and finally keeping appointments. Thank you Dr. Chen, for being a very special person, and a wonderful caring Dr. I will try not to be so lax with my health issues, and be more responsible in my following up.

Nathan S.

I recommend Dr. Nathan Samras, an internist, without reservation. Dr. Samras has performed my last two annual physical examinations and each time has exceeded expectations. Not only are his breadth of knowledge and wellness insights second to none, he is down-to-earth, incredibly sharp and has impeccable bedside manners.

Dr. Samras is extremely responsive. He communicates test results lightning fast. He is always ready to help despite his hectic schedule. In addition, he researches issues and promptly communicates findings. Under Dr. Samras' care, I am confident my health is in great hands. Each time, when the exam was over, I walked away knowing Dr. Samras really cared about my health and would leave no stone unturned to keep me healthy.

Dr. Samras is a remarkable physician. During the exams, he was incredibly generous with his time and compassionately provided me with excellent insights on how to better my health. Throughout our interactions, he is always 100% present and laser-focused on my health. I planted a seed that he should be the next US Surgeon General.

Significantly, Dr. Samras is very multi-faceted, has a big heart and has diverse interests. In addition to being a family man with three young children, I was impressed to learn he is an avid cyclist, a jazz pianist and also is active with nonprofits, including one he helped found whose mission is to improve healthcare in Nicaragua.

If you are looking for a great internist, look no further.

Jeremy D.

I had my annual skin check-up exam with dermatologist Dr. Davis. Though my skin type is not typically prone to skin cancer, I rather be safe than sorry, especially since early detection is key.

Dr. Davis is very pleasant, incredibly knowledgeable and has a knack for breaking down difficult concepts so they are easily understood. He left no stone unturned. He provided a wealth of information while exhibiting excellent bedside manner. Even though the office was quite busy, he was very cordial and professional, taking the time to explain the ins and outs of maintaining healthy skin.

With respect to parking, there was plenty of 2-hour street parking on Clifton Way, the street parallel to and just south of Wilshire Boulevard. In less than five minutes walking, I reached the medical building. (The building has an underground lot, entrance on Carson (on 12/16/20, the rates were $1.50 every 15 minutes with a $20 maximum).

I walked away from the appointment infinitely better versed about all matters skin and very grateful to have been under the care of Dr. Davis. In addition, I learned a little Italian as well.

I recommend Dr. Davis without exception or reservation.

P.S. SUGGESTION FOR UCLA HEALTH (nothing to do with Dr. Davis): My only suggestion is the exam room should have a dedicated space to leave one's clothing since one has to undress to put on the exam gown. A small closet/wardrobe with hangers would be a fine addition. (The two chairs next to the small desk were not good options since they were for the patient and doctor to sit on.)

Yung-Shee H.

Dr. Hsu is an extraordinary physician! She was my provider throughout my pregnancy and delivered my first baby via c-section. The kindness, competence, attention to detail, professionalism, and thoughtfulness she demonstrated during my labor and delivery were noticed not only by myself and my husband but our families waiting anxiously as well. I really cannot express how much she has touched my life (and my baby's) in such a positive way and any patient lucky enough to have her as their healthcare provider is blessed. Thanks Dr. Hsu!

Everyone C.

I am the daughter of patient, Javier. I would like you to look up his records, and thank every single Team, Doctor, Nurse, Resident & Staff Member that was in my Father's life during the last month he was in the hospital. He was admitted and passed away in the ICU on 12/12. He started off in Ghonda Observation and moved to the 7th floor, then to ICU, then to the 7th floor again, and back to ICU. With that said, he was around many different UCLA staff members. I couldn't be any more thankful on how everyone treated my Dad. They cared for him, and even though his condition was critical, they continued to fight for my Dad and did whatever they could to get him strong enough to go home. When my Dad was first admitted, he wanted to go home right away, but during his last days, he wanted to stay. He said to me that he was happy where he was at, in his words, "They are the BEST here, and they take care of me." My Dad was a fighter and the staff members stood by his side to fight with and for him. My Dad also shared with me that he made some friends there with the staff. They would have a conversation with him, and that alone makes my heart smile. My family and I couldn't be any more thankful then we already are. My Dad's team not only attended to my Dad, but they were also great supporters with his family. They always made sure we were comfortable, and constantly asked if we needed anything. I even had an RN talk to me about my Father one evening. She wanted to know about him, I shared photos and we cried together. The staff not only did their job, but they did it with a good, sincere, & caring heart. This is not how I pictured sending my gratitude to Ronald Reagan UCLA. As I witnessed the staff care for my Dad, every single day & every minute; I pictured sending you this message with him right next to me having so much joy to have him home for the holidays. It's not until today, that I realized, him being in heaven should bring more JOY because he isn't suffering any longer. He isn't in pain and he is home with Jesus, our LORD.
Wishing you and every staff member at UCLA a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. May God continue to watch over you and stay strong for those patient's & families that are suffering. May blessings overflow to you and your loved ones during the holiday season.

Much Love to each and everyone one of you,

Amber Victoria

Your team responded to my house in Torrance last Saturday late morning. My right side was mostly paralyzed and I could not speak. the rapid response and the work you did on me saved my life!!! With all the information you got and passed on to the hospital staff, they had the surgical team standing by and got me into the O R so quickly!!
They were able to go in through artery in groin and were able to remove the entire clot from the side of my head!! I woke up in the ICU around 2:00 and had full use of my arm and leg and with strength to squeeze and resist in all the tests they gave me to do!! Touching nose and finger tips with no problem. Was able to talk with a few stumbles but by Sunday morning could speek very well and could send text messages which I could not do Saturday evening. I was discharged Monday evening and home recovering well!! The point to all this is a heart filled with gratitude from me, family and friends for all you and your amazing team did for me Dr. Nour !!!!!! This whole thing was a Miracle and you were the first in a big part of all that saved me!! My hope is that this is seen by millions and that these units will be available to all who need them someday soon!! Merry Christmas to all of you. I got my Christmas Miracle!!!
Thank you all
Jeff and Dana
