Medicare Annual Enrollment Period

Medicare's Annual Enrollment Period runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. This is your yearly opportunity to review your current Medicare options and make any desired changes. These changes will take effect on Jan. 1 of the following year.

New to Medicare / Initial Enrollment Period

When you first become eligible for Medicare, you have an Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) that allows you to enroll in the Medicare coverage of your choice. This enrollment period starts three months before your 65th birthday, includes your birth month, and ends three months after your birth month.

If you miss this period, you may incur monetary penalties and your access to certain types of Medicare coverage could be restricted. We encourage you to take advantage of our collaboration with Connect One Health to help you navigate your various options during your Initial Enrollment Period.

Connect One Health represents UCLA Health Medicare Advantage Plan HMO. UCLA Health Medicare Advantage Plan HMO has a contract with Medicare that includes Part D coverage. Enrollment depends on the plan’s contract renewal. Enrollment in a plan may be limited to certain times of the year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period or you are in your Medicare Initial Enrollment Period. Not all plans offer all of these benefits. Benefits may vary by carrier and location. Limitations and exclusions may apply. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system.
