Kelly Cheung, MD 1st year Geriatric Palliative Medicine Fellow
Dr. Kelly Cheung-Warren was born and raised in Anaheim, California. She majored in biology at UC Irvine and became the first in her family to graduate college. She attended medical school at the Virginia Commonwealth University and joined the primary care underserved track. She completed internal medicine residency at UCLA’s Primary Care program and completed the Medical Education pathway. Dr. Cheung-Warren is pursuing an integrated two-year fellowship in geriatrics and palliative care to complement her practice in primary care and inpatient medicine. She hopes to serve in underserved settings in LA county as an ally in health equity and social justice. She is also a champion for age-friendly care and leveraging social media for mentorship and medical education.
Jenna Farmer, DO
Dr. Jenna Farmer grew up in rural northern California raising livestock. She attended college at Boise State University inn Idaho with plans to be a veterinarian but soon grew to love human medicine more. She attended medical school as part of Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine's first class and completed residency in Family Medicine in Nampa ID. Her and her spouse, and their corgi Daisy, are elated to be coming back home to California.
Siotame (Keni) Lasitani, MD
Dr. Siotame Lasitani was born in New Zealand and raised in Anaheim. He graduated from UCLA in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology and received his M.D. degree in 2022 from UCSD School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at UCLA. Keni’s interest in hospice and palliative care stems from caring for his aunt on home hospice. In college, he discovered his passion for medicine was rooted in health equity and advocating for marginalized, vulnerable communities. He plans to continue advocating for health equity for these populations within the field of hospice and palliative care.
Renee Rao, MD
Dr. Renee Rao grew up in Berkeley, California. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2015 with degrees in Molecular biology and Statistics. She graduated from medical school at USC in 2019 and completed internal medicine residency at UCLA in 2019. She worked for 3 years as an academic attending at UCLA health including time at MLK hospital and Barlow Respiratory hospital. She has always been interested in palliative care but wanted to gain more experience working after finishing residency. She plans to pursue a mixture of hospitalist and palliative work in her future career.
Raina Saxena, DO
Dr. Raina Saxena is from Houston, Texas. She earned her B.S. in Biology from the University of Houston and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She completed her internal medicine residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. Her interest in palliative care stems from a passion for building trust with patients’ during their most vulnerable moments. During residency she conducted research on video education and advance care planning. She plans to pursue a career integrating clinical care, medical education, and research to enhance the quality of life for her patients.
Elizabeth Scott, MD
Dr. Elizabeth Scott graduated from UC Berkeley in 2013 with a degree in Nutritional Science, Metabolism, and Physiology. Before medical school, she worked in the nutrition and fitness industry and as a Kaplan instructor and tutor. She earned her MD from USC Keck School of Medicine in 2020 and completed her emergency medicine residency at Harbor-UCLA in 2024. Now an attending physician at Little Company of Mary Torrance and Kaiser, she is passionate about the intersection of emergency and palliative medicine, ethics, and expanding access to palliative care. In residency, she helped develop an ED-to-palliative referral program, a palliative medicine selective track for EM residents, and the Food Pharmacy at HUCLA. Outside of medicine, she enjoys competitive distance running and spending time with her toddler and husband.
Dean Tran, MD
Dr. Dean Tran grew up in Orange County, California. He completed medical school at Tulane University in New Orleans, and then completed Family Medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente Orange County. Drawn to the intersection of medicine, communication, and compassionate care, he pursued a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He enjoys teaching and is dedicated to improving education about palliative care and evidence-based medicine for medical trainees.
Olivia Wu, MD
Dr. Olivia Wu grew up in San Diego in a Chinese-Vietnamese immigrant family, majored in Human Biology at Stanford (2016), completed a joint MD/MPP at UCLA (2022), and most recently finished family medicine residency at UCLA (2025). A desire to holistically consider and address social and structural determinants of health is what drew her to medicine in the first place—and is what continues to drive her desire for a practice in hospice and palliative care. She is passionate about social justice and advocacy, community building and organizing, medical education and mentorship, and prioritizing joy, rest, and balance for herself and others.
Christine Willinger, MD 2nd year Geriatrics Palliative Medicine fellow
Dr. Christine Willinger was born and raised in suburban New Jersey. She graduated from Yale University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Biophysics, followed by a NIH research fellowship in cardiovascular epidemiology at the Framingham Heart Study. Christine received her MD and MPH degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. She moved to Los Angeles for residency in the UCLA Internal Medicine Primary Care Program, after which she served as Ambulatory Chief Resident. She aspires to practice person-centered outpatient care for older adults with serious illness. Additional interests include medical education, quality improvement, and global health.
