Weight Loss
- The UCLA Healthier Weight Management Webinar Series is an 8-week instructive and interactive group class designed to promote lifestyle modifications for weight reduction and long-term weight maintenance. Sessions are led by UCLA physicians and dietitians who specialize in weight management. Topics change each week and incorporate the various factors that affect weight including nutrition, exercise, stress and more! The cost is $80 for 8 sessions and classes are held Tuesdays from 3-4 pm via Zoom. To register: call 310-825-8173 or email us at [email protected].
- The UCLA Medical Weight Management Program, previously known as the Risk Factor Obesity Clinic (RFO), has been UCLA's distinguished weight loss clinic for more than 45 years. The Weight Management Program was one of the first university programs to research very low-calorie diets (VLCDs) in the treatment of obesity. It started under the leadership David Heber, MD, PhD and Morton H. Maxwell, MD, and has continued to grow since then. Our program features a multidisciplinary team of experienced physicians, nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, clinical psychologists and therapists who are passionate about weight management. We utilize a combination of dietary, physical activity and behavioral lifestyle changes, which are individually tailored to fit each individual’s weight loss goals. The UCLA Medical Weight Management Program was described by the US News and World Report as "one of the most thorough weight management programs in the country." This is not covered by insurance.
The primary areas of practice of the UCLA Clinical Nutrition Clinic are treatment and prevention of obesity and obesity-associated diseases. Our board-certified physician nutrition specialists integrate cutting-edge research on nutrition, and use of phytochemicals and botanical dietary supplements to prevent and treat common forms of metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer.
