UCLA Health is committed to equitable care and helping you to reach your best health.

We want your birth to be a safe and empowering experience.

We will…

  • Treat you with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Work with you to learn how we can best support you.
  • Give you clear information, using an interpreter if you would like one, so you understand your options and can make the choice that is right for you.
  • Respect your values and personal boundaries.
  • Respect your culture, race, gender, sexual orientation, functional needs, preferences, nationality, language and religion.
  • Welcome and actively involve those you wish to include, such as family, friends and doula, as part of your team.
  • Have trained chaperones to help make sure sensitive exams and procedures are done in a safe, comfortable, and professional way.

We invite you to let us know if we fail to meet these commitments.  For more information, visit patient experience.

Meet our team

UCLA Health Birthplace

UCLA Health is committed to providing you with the best possible birth experience, offering maternity care through a fully integrated BirthPlace program with locations at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood.

At UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, we offer an integrated model of care that includes attending physicians, resident physicians and certified nurse-midwives. Our certified nurse-midwives play an integral role on the obstetrics healthcare team, providing pregnancy, birth and postpartum care to our patients. If you are seeking a nurse-midwife for your pregnancy care, your first prenatal appointment will be with an obstetrician to determine if you are a good candidate. Should you choose to deliver at the UCLA BirthPlace Santa Monica, we highly recommend choosing a doctor from our Santa Monica OBGYN clinic.

At Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, we offer a team of care partners that includes nurses, resident physicians, attending physicians and specialty providers working together to care for you and support you during your pregnancy through labor and delivery. Should you choose to deliver at the UCLA BirthPlace Westwood, we highly recommend choosing a doctor from our Westwood OBGYN clinic.

UCLA Health Maternal Fetal Medicine Program

UCLA’s Maternal and Fetal Medicine Program has obstetricians that specialize in caring for people with a high-risk  pregnancy. We understand that certain conditions during pregnancy, labor and delivery can cause unwanted stress. At UCLA Obstetrics, our specialists care for your unique needs so there is less stress for you, your baby and your family.

Pregnancy Conditions Treated, include:

UCLA Health Postpartum Pelvic Floor Health Program

UCLA Obstetrics also provides our patients access to the UCLA Postpartum Pelvic Floor Health Program, led by a multidisciplinary team of urogynecologists, pelvic floor physical therapists, and pelvic floor radiologists working together to provide individualized care of laboring parents after delivery. This includes not only the short-term effects of pregnancy, labor, and birth on the pelvic floor, but we can also help evaluate and manage any potential long-lasting effects from childbirth. For additional information >

UCLA Health Maternal Outpatient Mental health Services (MOMS) Clinic

With our whole-person approach to care, the Maternal Outpatient Mental health Services (MOMS) Clinic was created to serve the mental health needs of patients during the perinatal period. Based on a collaborative care model, the MOMS Clinic provides full psychiatric assessments to patients in the OB-GYN setting as a way to minimize access to care issues during this vulnerable time. Patients will benefit from initiation of psychiatric care and provided with tailored resources from our interdisciplinary team led by Misty Richards, MD, MS, Medical Director of Perinatal Psychiatry, and Rashmi Rao, MD, Obstetric Medical Director of Mental Health.
