We offer our international patients an array of support services. We want to make UCLA Health and Southern California feel a little closer to home. - A list of your current medications and the dosage for each. You also can bring vials or containers with you to your first appointment.
- If requested, any medical information and radiology images (including written radiology reports) that your local doctor has given you.
- Any forms you have been asked to provide.
- Name, address and phone number of the referring physician, if applicable.
- Information about your medical insurance if you have private insurance.
We can recommend translation companies but do not currently provide this service within the organization.
UCLA Health specialists have experience collaborating with doctors all over the world. Patients often receive a diagnosis at UCLA Health and then receive subsequent treatment in their home countries. If appropriate, UCLA Health doctors will work closely with your local doctor to guarantee that the best treatment options are considered.
Yes. You are welcome to request specific doctors. We will review your request to confirm the doctor that best fit your needs.
Yes. In addition to nearby hotels and apartments, The Tiverton – Health & Wellness Hotel | UCLA Health is owned by UCLA Health for the benefit of patients and their families. Free transportation transfers patients from The Tiverton House and some hotels to the hospital and Medical Plaza. We can recommend hotels that provide transportation to UCLA. Surrounded by iconic UCLA landmarks and just steps from the Ronald Reagan Medical Center, the Luskin Hotel and Conference Center UCLA Conference Center | Meyer & Renee Luskin Center | UCLA Luskin Conference Center offer a comfortable place to recharge, defining it as one of the premiere hotels in Westwood. Guests of the hotel may also wish to take advantage of discounted day passes to UCLA’s renowned recreation facilities, check out the calendar of entertainment at UCLA, catch a Bruins game at Pauley Pavilion or explore the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame.

Yes. Our finance team will provide you with a cost estimate for your services scheduled at UCLA Health. The cost varies greatly. Estimated charges are based on the physician's treatment plan. Medical reports must be reviewed by a physician for a treatment plan to be determined specifically for your unique healthcare needs. UCLA Health has created online searchable tools to allow patients to look up anticipated charges for health care services. Please go to our webpage on price transparency.
Yes. Our financial team will work with you and your insurance company to ensure you know the costs of your care and what costs, if any, you may be responsible for paying.
It takes 30-45 days from the last date of service to finalize charges. Once final charges have posted, and should receive a statement via mail, email.
Please allow 45 days after the last date of service to finalize your billing statements. Should there be a remaining credit, then we will begin the refund process after the 45 days. Refunds will be paid in the same manner as the deposit was paid; example, if deposit is paid with a credit card, the refund will be credited back to the same credit card. Cash payments will be refunded via check to the original payee.
You may obtain the records from Medical Correspondence. You must give them written authorization for release of information. Please call +1 (310) 825-6021 for information. Our office can facilitate this for you.
Yes, when appropriate, we are able to offer remote second opinions to International Patients. UCLA Health physicians recognize the importance of providing International Patients with all possible options for their medical care. Our international patient services team is happy to answer your questions and coordinate your second opinion consultation. You can start the process and get a second opinion or contact us to learn more.
Your UCLA Health care team will reach out to your local doctor if needed to ensure a proper transition of care, any medications or follow-up care you may need. We will send you or your caregiver home with your medical records and CDs of scans conducted at UCLA Health (as needed). We will also return any pathology slides or imaging work you have submitted to us from other hospitals. Once you are back at home, we encourage you to contact your international patient liaison with any questions. You can also access our patient portal, My-chart, to communicate directly with your UCLA Health care team.
