Submit Request

To make reservations for assisted flow cytometry acquisition, please make reservations at least 48 hours in advance. Contact us for scheduling.

For any other service, a filled order request form is required before any service is performed. Projects with less than 20 samples can usually be completed within 2 weeks of order placement and sample delivery. For projects with more samples, please contact us for turnaround time.

  1. Download and complete the appropriate service request form electronically:
  2. Email the completed form as an attachment to [email protected]. We will follow up by email regarding your request.

Flow cytometry-based immune assessment

Sample Preparation

All basic requirements for each available assay can be found in the Table below. Our assays are optimized for use with fresh blood or isolated human PBMCs/mouse splenocytes. Please inquire about requests for experiments using other sources of cells.

AssayAcceptable SpecimenAcceptable Time from Collection (for whole blood only)Minimum Test Requirements
ImmunophenotypingPeripheral whole blood collected in ACD, sodium/lithium heparin, or EDTA30 hrs200 µL blood or 0.5–1 x 106 PBMCs (per panel)
Intracellular Cytokine StainingPeripheral whole blood collected in ACD or sodium/lithium heparin30 hrs2 mL blood or 2 x 106 PBMCs (per stimulus)
Direct and Indirect All-stimulation AssayPeripheral whole blood collected in ACD or sodium/lithium heparin30 hrs1 mL blood or 1 x 106 recipient PBMCs
1 x 106 donor splenocytes or PBMCs (per stimulus)
Lymphocyte Proliferation AssayPeripheral whole blood collected in sodium/lithium heparin30 hrs1 mL blood or 1 x 106 PBMCs
Natural Killer Cell Cytotoxicity AssayPeripheral whole blood collected in sodium/lithium heparin30 hrs2 mL blood or 2 x 106 PBMCs
Oxidative Burst AssayPeripheral whole blood collected in sodium/lithium heparin30 hrs200 µL whole blood

For whole blood samples, refer to the specific assay requirements above. Samples should be collected, stored, and shipped at room temperature and will only be accepted within the timeframe listed. For isolated and cryopreserved cells, please follow the minimum cell amounts listed. From 8 mL of blood, typical PBMC yield is ~5–12 x 106. Processing and cryopreservation services are available. If isolating cells yourself, we recommend Ficoll-Paque PLUS separation. For cryopreserved samples, store in liquid nitrogen or at -80°C and ship on dry ice. For protocol questions, please contact us.

Results and Data Retrieval

All prices include FlowJo data analysis. Additional analysis is available upon request. Results include raw .fcs files, analysis reports, and gating PDFs. Turnaround is typically up to two working weeks.

Immunoassays (Luminex and ELISA)

Sample Preparation

Most assays require 15–200 µL of plasma, serum, supernatant, or lysate. Refer to your assay protocol for accepted sample types.

For plasma/serum: use appropriate collection tubes and store at -80°C.
For supernatants: store at -80°C and provide 2 mL of media used.
For lysates: normalize to 200–2,000 µg/mL protein and provide 2 mL of buffer used.

Results and Data Retrieval

Results include concentration values, standard curves, and QC data. Optional analyses (e.g., heatmaps, clustering) are available for a fee. Turnaround is typically up to two working weeks.

Real-Time Cell Lysis and Proliferation using xCELLigence

Sample Preparation

UCLA clients should prepare viable cells (>85%) and provide 50 mL of media and/or stimuli. External clients may ship frozen cells on dry ice. Include all culture conditions and special media if applicable.

Results and Data Retrieval

Normalized cell index plots over time will be provided. Turnaround time is typically up to two working weeks.
