Cardiopulmonary Pathology
UCLA Cardiothoracic pathologists are experts in the diagnosis of a wide variety of cardiovascular, pulmonary, thymic, and pleural diseases, including heart and lung transplantation pathology and the pathology of medical devices. Both surgical and autopsy pathology consultations are performed.
Services
- Review of surgical pathology specimens, including heart, lung, thymus, and pleura biopsies; excised native and prosthetic heart valves; IVC filters; blood vessels.
- Consultation services on complex autopsy specimens, including sudden cardiac death; complex congenital heart disease; hearts with implanted mechanical devices such as ventricle assist devices, prosthetic valves, and stents.
