What we do

We streamline research connections

We bring together renowned experts in areas such as genomics, bioinformatics and molecular neurobiology with appropriately diagnosed patients to accelerate scientific discovery and truly understand and treat neurological diseases.

We are assembling a cutting-edge biospecimen bank

To keep our investigators at the forefront of technology and science, now and into the future, CNRC is committed to building a biospecimen bank with a wide array of patient specimens including:

  • Blood
  • DNA, RNA
  • Plasma, serum
  • Skin, Muscle, or other tissue
  • Cell lines
  • Cerebrospinal fluid

We collect clinical data for research studies

CNRC can curate datasets from both medical records and research assessments to create unique resources for understanding disease and patient outcomes.

We help recruit research participants

CNRC recruits research participants at UCLA's outpatient neurology clinics.  UCLA physicians can refer any interested UCLA neurology patient for participation.

We help doctors prepare for clinical trials

As research yields new care methods and treatments, we help bring them to the patients who need them.

Our organized database can

  • Keep track of patients with specific neurological conditions and alert them of new clinical trials.
  • Easily connect actionable genetic or other research findings to patients who may benefit from them.

We support investigator-initiated research

  • We assist scientists from multiple speciailities to collaborate and address important questions related to neurological disease including the study of treatment biomarkers, genetic mutations, and better diagnostic tools.
  • CNRC has built an infrastructure and workflows to support a wide array of neurological research activities for both clinical and basic science researchers, including research integrity and ethical study approvals, patient consenting processes, and assistance with research grant preparation.

Support the Clinical Neurogenomics Research Center at UCLA
