Application Process

Thank you for considering the UCLA Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine for your cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellowship training.

We will be accepting applications for the 2027-2028 academic year beginning November 2025.

Application Submission Period: November through January

Interviews: March

Interviews are done by invitation only. Your file will not be reviewed until it is complete.

All applicants must possess a valid California medical license prior to starting the fellowship program.

The expected start date for the Fellowship is August 1st.

Application File Requirements

Please submit the following to the SF Match application database at sfmatch.org.

  1. Completed fellowship application
    1. Curriculum vitae including a list of publications
    2. USMLE Official Transcripts - Step 1, 2, and 3 scores
    3. Three letters of recommendation by physicians who are familiar with you professionally and personally (one must be from your Residency Program Director).
    4. Dean's Letter/Medical Student Performance Evaluation
    5. Medical School Diploma (or letter from medical school with official seal verifying date of graduation; international medical graduates should include a notarized English translation)
    6. Medical School Transcripts (international medical graduates should include a notarized English translation)
    7. Valid ECFMG Certificate (if international medical graduate)
    8. In-Training Examination Score Reports during residency
    9. ABA Basic Examination Result Letter
    10. Wallet-sized Photo

Please submit the following supplemental documents to [email protected].

  1. Valid State of California Medical License (if practicing in California)
  2. DEA License (if practicing)
  3. AAMC ID number
     

Please be aware that all candidates who are selected for the program must clear a security background check.
