College Student Recruitment
Recruitment for college students will open up Friday, July 24, 2026 at 12 noon for the Errand/Escort volunteer assignment. SPACE IS LIMITED.
A recruitment link will be posted below to sign-up for an in-person Information Session in the hospital. The 1-hr. Information Session will be held Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2PM (THERE WILL BE NO MAKE-UP DATES FOR THE INFO SESSION).
High School Student Recruitment (Summer ONLY)
High school student recruitment is currently CLOSED. Please check back again March 2027 to sign-up for the 1-hr Information Session.
Eligible students must be:
- At least 16 years old by the time they start volunteering
- Available for fixed shifts - Monday-Friday, 8AM-12PM or 12PM-4PM (no weekday evenings or weekends)
- Available without an extended break/vacation from mid-June through the end of August

Available Opportunities
Errand/Escort
Warmly greet all patients, visitors, staff and volunteers and assist with wayfinding. Stock isolation carts on all nursing floors. Assist in transferring and discharging patients. Delivery of items to patients and/or specific locations. Complete non-clinical tasks for various departments, when called-upon and as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 years old (16 years old for high school students).
- A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, military ID)
- Visa Status: Policies regarding non-immigrant visa holders wishing to volunteer are under review at this time. Currently, Volunteer Services is only able to process full-time UCLA matriculating students on F1 Visas.
- Agreement to volunteer for 100 hours; commitment of four hours per week.
Health Requirements
- Proof of Varicella, MMR, QuantiFERON-TB GOLD blood test and be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19. Please for detailed information on health requirements.
Individuals must either have the most recent COVID vaccine.
OR
- Complete a declination in volunteer portal.
Applying to the General Student Volunteer Program
Step 1: Sign-up for a MANDATORY Information Session.
Step 2: Apply - Applications will be emailed after the MANDATORY Information Session. Only invited individuals who attend the MANDATORY Information Session will receive an application. Complete online application (Please do not mail or drop-off application. It will not be accepted.)
Step 3: Background Check - complete MANDATORY background check (discussed at Information Session)
Step 4: Complete and upload all required training modules and medical requirements by set deadlines (discussed at Information Session).
Step 5: Attend MANDATORY in-person Orientation.
