UHS Volunteer Application
Volunteering: To Get Started
Research Volunteer Application Process
- Applicants must be invited by a Supervisor and apply through an existing volunteer assignment using a designated Opportunity Link.
- If an assignment has not yet been created, then the Inviting Supervisor must submit a completed and signed Research Volunteer Scope of Duties (RVSD) Form to establish one (Mednet login required): https://uclahs.box.com/s/bzuo1mfk2rg59fwyx30x4glcefb68vjc
- Please note that response and processing times may be longer during the summer and at the beginning of academic quarters. We appreciate your patience.
- Only one RVSD form is required for multiple individuals assigned to the same volunteer role.
- Staff who are authorized representatives of faculty may complete the form on the faculty member’s behalf.
Inviting Supervisors
- Supervisors must be UCLA Health Sciences employees and may not be undergraduate student workers or contingent staff.
Volunteer Applicants
- Applicants must be officially invited by a UCLA Health Sciences faculty or staff supervisor and receive an Opportunity Link via email to start the onboarding process for the specific volunteer assignment. Please review volunteer eligibility before proceeding.
- New applicants must create a new account and then complete the prescreening and onboarding process.
- Current or returning volunteers must log into their existing volunteer account and then apply through the Opportunity Link.
Badge & Access Requirements
- Cleared volunteers must obtain their UCLA Health badge before participating in any in-person activities or receiving computer access. Badge instructions will be provided directly to volunteers via email.
- Please note: minors are not eligible to receive Mednet accounts.
What to Expect
Applicants may review the UCLA Health Sciences Volunteer Requirements in advance to prepare for onboarding.
The inviting supervisor is responsible for sending their selected applicants the Opportunity Link to sign up and begin the onboarding process.
Onboarding typically takes 1–2 weeks, pending background checks and required clearances. Scheduling for a follow-up onboarding becomes available only after all requirements are completed and verified, and final clearance is granted after completion of the Orientation Quiz.
