Marco A. Hidalgo, PhD, has an academic appointment as Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine, and a faculty appointment within Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) & Preventive Medicine at UCLA Health. They are a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive training in the assessment and treatment of gender dysphoria, substance use, anxiety-, mood- and trauma-related conditions among children, adolescents and adults. As Founding Director of the Department of Medicine's Clinical Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program, Dr. Hidalgo supervises clinical psychology postdoctoral residents in various clinical settings, including the Gender Health Program and UC-LEND Program.

Dr. Hidalgo, an NIH-sponsored investigator, researches a breadth of areas pertaining to sexual and gender minoritized (SGM) individuals across the lifespan: mental health, psychometrics, minority stress and resilience, transgender health, and HIV prevention intervention.

Dr. Hidalgo is Principal Investigator of Gender Journey Project, a five-year study examining gender development and mental health among a national sample of gender-diverse children.
