Education and Research Center
Since 1995, the Iris Cantor – UCLA Women’s Health Education & Research Center (WHERC) has been nationally recognized as a leader in research, community engagement, and advocacy for women’s health. Through a social justice perspective, the Center addresses women’s health beyond a genetic and gender lens. The Center takes a holistic view of the social and economic factors that contribute to health inequities.
Through cross-sector collaborations, WHERC addresses the physical, mental, economic, cultural, psychological, racial, and environmental disparities that impact the well-being of vulnerable women, their families, and the community at large.
WHERC has a strong focus on prevention through outreach to underserved girls and women. Its wide-ranging outreach program includes projects that both educate and empower individuals and build partnerships with well-established community health organizations.
