Carol Bennett, MD, a professor of urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, has received the Jean Fourcroy Leadership Award from the Society of Women in Urology (SWIU). The award was presented at the SWIU’s 14th Annual Clinic Mentoring Conference, recognizing Dr. Bennett’s leadership and contributions to the field of urology.
The award is named in honor of Jean Fourcroy, a pioneering female physician who helped establish the society. It was created to recognize other women in urology who follow in Fourcroy's footsteps.
Dr. Bennett’s research on treating urinary tract diseases, defects in the male reproductive system, and neurogenic injuries caused by spinal cord trauma has had a lasting impact on patient care. Her work has led to innovative treatments, particularly for men with spinal cord injuries. In addition to her research, Dr. Bennett has mentored and advocated for women in urology.
