Vasculitis

Research

As one of the nation’s most prestigious academic medical centers, UCLA is at the forefront of vasculitis medical research. Physicians on our vasculitis team are actively involved in clinical research to advance the care of patients with vasculitis. Several current and upcoming studies include:

  • Evaluating diagnostic modalities used for vasculitis
  • Development of new outcome measures for use in clinical trials in vasculitis
  • International collaborative efforts to standardize the definition of response to treatment in conditions like giant cell arteritis
  • Assessing the prognosis of patients with vasculitis
  • Strategies to help cope with symptoms of vasculitis

Patients with vasculitis who are interested can also explore and participate in research through the Vasculitis Patient-Powered Research Network (VPPRN). VPPRN allows patients to participate in select ongoing research opportunities without having to be near an expert center.
