Train with leaders in vascular and podiatric surgery
UCLA's Division of Vascular and Podiatric Surgery offers two robust residency programs that provide advanced clinical training, academic mentorship, and research opportunities in a diverse and dynamic environment. Our graduates go on to lead in both academic and community settings.
Vascular Surgery Residency Program
Duration: 5 years (RRC approved)
Positions Available: 1 PGY-1 resident per year
Led by Dr. David Rigberg, the Vascular Surgery Residency prepares trainees to manage the full spectrum of vascular disease—from medical and surgical treatment to advanced endovascular techniques. The program integrates general surgery training in the early years with intensive vascular training during the final 36 months.
UCLA’s commitment to diversity is reflected in the program’s demographics and its mission to serve the multicultural population of Los Angeles.
Podiatric Surgery Residency Program
Duration: 3 years
Positions Available: 4 PGY-1 residents per year
Directed by Dr. David Aungst and Associate Program Director Dr. Aksone Nouvong, this CPME-accredited program offers broad surgical training in trauma, limb salvage, reconstruction, and elective surgery. Residents rotate through premier institutions including UCLA Ronald Reagan, Olive View-UCLA, and Kaiser hospitals.
The program features strong research support—with over $3 million in funded projects—and a rich didactic curriculum including cadaver labs, radiology rounds, and multidisciplinary M&Ms.
