Dr. Billi is an expert in degradation of biomaterials in simulated physiological environment as well as in mechanical and non-destructive characterization of materials for biomedical applications.

Dr. Billi's current research area concern bone biology; materials and medical devices biocompatibility and immunology; anti-infective strategies; tribology; biomaterials and smart materials; 3D bioprinting; wearable orthopaedic devices and technologies.

Mathematical description of nanoparticles and image analysis, and genetic interactions leading to nanoparticle mediated osteolysis.

My research focuses on dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal diseases, with the goal of discovering novel therapeutics.
