How to Apply

The UCLA Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP or “The Match”) and will accept applications only via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Application Requirements

The steps to apply are as follows:

  1. Complete the NRMP match enrollment materials on AAMC
  2. Complete the Common Application Form (CAF) ON ERAS and include the following:
    • Dean's letter (MSPE)
    • Medical school transcript with grades
    • Personal Statement
    • USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 scores (We do not have a cut off score. We review your application as a whole)
    • Minimum three letters of recommendation
    • All graduates from foreign medical schools must have certification from the Education Committee for Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) before your application is reviewed.
 
Orthopaedic Surgery Applicants
 
Application Deadline is October 3rd.
 
To conduct a more thorough review of all applications and follow the AOA/CORD Universal Offer Day recommendations, we plan to send interview invitations on November 16.
 
We plan to interview approximately 50 total applicants across the following two interview dates:
  • Friday, December 11, 2026
  • Friday, December 18, 2026
 
Pre-Interview Welcome Reception Dates:
Thursday, December 10, 2026 and Thursday, December 17, 2026 from 6- 8 p.m.
 
Interviews will be in-person. We will send interview invitations through Thalamus. At that time, you will select your preferred interview date, and we will make every effort to fulfill your request on a first-come, first-served basis.
