Neurosurgery Spine Fellowship

The Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship is co-directed by Langston T. Holly, MD and Andrew C. Vivas, MD.

The UCLA Neurosurgical Spine fellows will perform approximately 300 major spinal surgeries including minimally invasive approaches, spinal deformity, oncology, trauma, degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, and other spinal disorders. Fellows will receive ample experience evaluating and treating preoperative and postoperative patients in the outpatient setting, with an emphasis on surgical indications and patient outcomes. The fellows will be actively involved in teaching, including the weekly Joint Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic Spine Conference and resident education. There are several NIH funded basic science and clinical research activities available including spinal cord injury, cervical myelopathy pathogenesis, and advanced spinal cord imaging. There are also other ongoing projects related to surgical outcome studies. Support will be provided for travel to Neurosurgery and Spine related meetings during the fellowship year.
