Research Pathway
Program Overview
Overall Vision: Upon completion of the Research Pathway, IM residents will have greater enthusiasm for a career in research and a clearer understanding of their scientific interests.
Milestones & Timeline:
- September of R2 year: Research mentor identified
- December of R2 year: Research project clearly defined
- Summer of R3 year: Fellowship applications
- December of R3 year: Abstract for a relevant national conference submitted
- Spring of R3 year: Present at national conference
- End of R3 year: Present at Solomon Scholars Research Day
Mentorship Rhythms:
- Quarterly meeting with Pathway Directors in R2 year
- Meeting with research mentor every +1 week
- STAR seminars monthly
- Twice yearly meetings with Pathway Directors in R3 year
Additional Pathway Benefits:
- Extra half day of research in +1 week
- Funding to present at a national conference with approval of PD
