Dr. Isaac Morones

Dr. Morones was born in Durango, Mexico, where his parents emphasized the transformative power of education. His healthcare journey began as a clinical laboratory technician, where a year of community service sparked his curiosity about the human body and deepened his commitment to patient care. Later, he earned his medical degree from the Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango and spent a year in a rural hospital, which solidified his passion for primary care.
In 2012, he began an Internal Medicine residency at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he gained invaluable experience in critical care, medical procedures, and interdisciplinary collaboration. After moving to the United States in 2021, Dr. Morones worked as a case manager for a nonprofit organization, further broadening his understanding of the U.S. healthcare system.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing music, running, reading literature, and learning about astrophysics. Dr. Morones enjoys listening to podcasts and finds that it has been a great way to expand his knowledge on various topics, especially while commuting.
Professional Interests: Primary Care with a focus on underserved communities and patient outcomes.

Dr. Richard Wonuh Joo

Dr. Richard Wonuh Joo was born and raised in a Korean household in São Paulo, Brazil. During medical school at Faculdade Israelita de Ciências da Saúde Albert Einstein in São Paulo, he trained in public and private healthcare settings, where diverse populations and varying resources underscored how socioeconomic and psychosocial barriers affect care access and outcomes.
After graduating, he worked as an emergency department attending before moving to the U.S. to pursue a lifelong dream of practicing medicine alongside his family. In preparation for the 2025 Match, Dr. Joo completed postgraduate training at the UCLA International Medical Graduate Program. During his clinical clerkships with the program, he served underserved communities facing cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic challenges, revealing that despite differences in overall healthcare systems, individuals in both the U.S. and Brazil struggle with access to care.
Professional Interests: Dr. Joo is dedicated to improving healthcare access for the underserved by addressing cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic barriers. He is also passionate about elderly care, inspired by his role as his grandmother’s primary caretaker during medical school.
Outside of Medicine: He enjoys soccer, tennis, beach tennis, exploring cultures through gastronomy, and aims to volunteer with animal rescue shelters in the U.S., a cause he supported in Brazil.
