HumAnes of UCLA: Kathy Good, Mail Assistant
Tell us a little about you, your family/friends, and any pets.
I’m from Los Angeles. My older brother’s name is Brian, my dad is originally from Chicago, and my mom is from LA. In the future I really want to get a dog. My friends would probably describe me as caring, thoughtful, and a good listener.

What is your favorite way to spend a day off?
When I have time to myself, I don’t really like to do too much. I do enjoy listening to music and dancing around my living room. Some of my favorite bands would have to be U2 and Coldplay, but I also like to listen to different genres like R&B or really any kind of music.
We understand that you are a former Project Search Intern. How cool! How did Project Search impact your life?
Project Search, to give definition for those who don’t know, helps with job placements and helps interns grow in life. They interviewed with me and it was very helpful. I learned about so many tools to help me learn on the job, how to approach people, how to dress. I also had the opportunity to go to different departments. I’ve been working at UCLA Health’s Anesthesiology Department for 5 years now!
What is one thing you love about delivering the mail? What is one surprising thing people may not know about your job?
I love that I get to see the different aspects of the job and talk to people. I love always seeing how I can help. I love my job! I take the shuttle on Friday mornings to deliver mail in Santa Monica and I’ll always remember my first day when I got mixed up and confused–– I have to figure out a way to figure out these names and try to remember these names. I got a list. How would I get to know these people? I started making lists, and putting them in my phone, printing information out. I do get to see many people while delivering the mail which I love!
Tell us about the dance classes you take and what keeps you dancing?

I take a hip-hop class on Sunday morning that is free for all dance levels! I really enjoy the music, and I love to see the people, its so much fun! I hope to see more people get out there this Sunday!
You’re such an avid dancer that you were part of an inspiring documentary called, “Dance As You Are- A documentary about the importance of joy in our lives”. We are so thrilled to see it is now available online! What was it like being a part of the filming process and at the premiere?
Oh it was so incredible. I’ve never been in a movie before, so it was so cool to be featured and even go to the premiere. I was actually interviewed at the premiere, and I forgot what I said but I remember that I just felt so cool! I always have that memory to go back to.
If you could be a dancer on tour for any singer, who would it be and why?
Taylor Swift – I’m a Swiftie! I absolutely love her music and my favorite song would have to be “Fifteen”.
