Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Dayton, Ohio, about an hour outside of Columbus.
What was your childhood dream?
My childhood dream was actually to be a fighter pilot, but I realized at a young age that the military isn’t for me.
What inspired you to become an anesthesiologist?
I really liked the anesthesiologists at Ohio State. They were very approachable and had me shadow early on. I liked how they stayed calm during intense situations and were great with procedures. I remember thinking that I wanted to be the type of doctor who could care for a patient in an emergent scenario.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love taking care of patients. We have a unique role in that we need to make patients feel comfortable in a short amount of time. I like the variety of cases we see. I also like putting up the drapes after a smooth induction.
Why did you decide to move to Los Angeles?
Towards the end of medical school, I realized that I wanted to experience living somewhere new after having lived in Ohio my whole life. Los Angeles has great weather, food, culture, and endless activities. I visited with friends before submitting my rank list and was sold that this is where I wanted to be. Since moving here, I’ve only grown to appreciate it more.

Anything you miss about the Midwest?
I mainly miss my family who are still in Ohio. The pace is slower, and being able to get around without traffic is nice. Having seasons is great, but I’m content without the Ohio winters.
Tell us a little about your family (including any pets).
I'm the oldest of three with a younger brother and sister. My sister is a nurse, and my brother is training to be a pilot. I have three dogs back home: Shaggy (who is the OG), Fred, and Willow.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to go to concerts with my friends, cook with my girlfriend Phoebe, and run on trails in the Santa Monica Mountains.
What is your favorite book?
One of my favorite books is called Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah. It’s an interesting take on Christianity and describes how anyone can perform miracles in daily life.
How would your friends and family describe you?
I think they would describe me as someone who’s hardworking but likes to have fun in their free time, caring, and a loyal friend.
