Scientific Interests

Dr. Nimmi Kapoor is a Breast Surgical Oncologist and an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.  After graduating summa cum laude from UCLA, she earned her medical degree with AOA honors at Weill Cornell Medical College.  She then attended New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell for general surgery residency and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for surgical oncology residency and research training. She then returned to her home in California and completed a joint Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at John Wayne Cancer Institute and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. While at UCLA, Dr. Kapoor has become a leader in breast surgery and is the Director of Breast Surgical Skills and Innovation at UCLA and serves on several committees for national surgical society. She also runs a nationally acclaimed course on Breast Ultrasound and Oncoplastic surgery. Her research interests include genomic profiling of tumors, postpartum breast cancer, and cryoablation.
