About
Dr. Vikas Pabby is an associate professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a member of the UCLA Medical Education Committee (MEC). He is board certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine, and pediatrics. Dr. Pabby grew up in Southern California before attending medical school at MS Ramaiah Medical College in Bangalore, India. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Southern California, LA County.
After residency, Dr. Pabby served as an associate physician in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and was appointed instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, practicing both internal medicine and pediatrics. He then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School, during which he obtained a master of public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. During this fellowship, he was recognized with a fellowship teaching award for his dedication to education.
Dr. Pabby practices general gastroenterology with a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). His research interests lie in IBD and medical education.
With a longstanding commitment to medical education, Dr. Pabby has contributed to teaching and mentorship for medical students, residents, and fellows at both UCLA and Harvard. He serves as the GI core educator for the Scientific Foundations of Medicine Course for first-year medical students at UCLA. Over the past several years, he has also served as an Educator for Excellence and is a co-faculty lead for the Near Peer Mentoring Program at UCLA. He was selected as a Harvard Macy Scholar (2024–2025) and currently serves as a volunteer faculty member for the Harvard Macy Institute.
Dr. Pabby appreciates having had the opportunity to be involved in education and curriculum development and continues to support the growth and excellence of medical student education at UCLA.
