Dr. Surina Kajani is a board-certified, primary care physician practicing at UCLA Health in Porter Ranch. She believes the key to a successful doctor patient relationship is through patient empowerment and education. She prides herself on exhibiting compassion, empathy, and understanding, all while providing the most up to date, evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Kajani started her education at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) where she was selected to be part of an accelerated BS/MS program, receiving both an undergraduate (BS) and masters (MS) degree in Biology in 4 years. She followed her passion for medicine and obtained her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and then completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Adventist Health-White Memorial, an affiliate of Loma Linda School of Medicine.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Kajani loves spending time with her family, teaching medical students from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, cooking, hiking and dancing.
She is fluent in Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu.

I had a video visit with Dr Kajani. She’s very pleasant and very knowledgeable about my diabetic condition and the physical therapy I’m receiving for my right leg muscle spasm. Dr Kajani demonstrates concern about these conditions and immediately discussed her plan of action. Dr Kajani listens and did not rush our video meeting. Dr Kajani and I had a productive video meeting together and I’m looking forward to keep seeing her as my primary physician.

I had an initial "new patient" consultation with Dr. Kajani, who agreed to become my primary care physician, and made an initial appointment for a physical exam. She impressed me as being knowledgeable both about the medical issues I described that I face, and about specialists at UCLA who she recommends for me. I haven't changed internist for 34 years - mine is retiring, so my hand is forced - and Dr. Kajani was very reassuring. I look forward to being in her practice.

Dr Kajani is a very caring doctor. She is kind and respectful of the patients’ need to state and describe what is bothering them, their level of pain, the introverted the pain etc - yet she is very much on top of her task with respect to the basic and the clinical sciences. She instills trust in the patient because she is able to explain to the patient not only the mechanism of what ails them but also the medical plan to tackle it and eventually hopefully resolve it. Dr Kajani is a master of patient-centered medicine in the premier healthcare center that is UCLA.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience. It's nice to feel heard at a doctor and to have one that cares enough to truly dive into all aspects of your health to figure out how to manage your care to the best of your benefit. Too many doctors see a medically complex person and walk away or stay and neglect them, because they are too much work. This was the exact opposite experience and one that makes it worth every minute of the 2-3 hour drive.
