About
Dr. Stephanie Young is a Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, board-certified clinical neuropsychologist, and licensed clinical psychologist who practices and teaches within the Department of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Young’s clinical interests include evidence-based approaches to the assessment and management of primary care patients presenting with co-existing medical and psychological/neurocognitive conditions.
As the Director of Mental Health Education for the UCLA Internal Medicine–Primary Care residency program, Dr. Young established and leads the integrated mental health training program for resident physicians in primary care. In addition to clinical precepting, Dr. Young also develops initiatives related to resident well-being. Scholarly interests relate to medical education, curricular innovation, and the improvement of psychological and cognitive health service delivery in general internal medicine.
Dr. Young completed her undergraduate studies in psychobiology at UCLA, and obtained her Master of Public Health degree from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She graduated from these programs with multiple academic honors and leadership awards. She obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University, where she served as the program president and received the leadership and advocacy award upon graduation. She completed her internship training in clinical psychology and a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, developing her specialization in adult and geriatric neuropsychological assessment.
