Shyam S. Kolangara, MD

Shyam Kolangara, MD, is board certified in both Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine. In addition to his outpatient work, he cares for patients in skilled nursing facilities in Thousand Oaks and treats hospitalized patients in the Geriatric Unit at UCLA Santa Monica.

He completed medical school at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore in Maryland. He then pursued a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Maryland/Baltimore VA. He became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) in 2021.

After fellowship, Dr. Kolangara served as an Academic Primary Care Physician at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, working closely with Internal Medicine residents and medical students. He relocated to California in 2023 and began practicing as a primary care physician in Fillmore, California, at Clinicas Del Camino Real.

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, he has personal interests in physical fitness, philosophy, and spirituality.
