Dr. Shih-Fan Sun is a primary care physician who practices in Palos Verdes. His clinical interests include preventive medicine, routine healthcare for adults and the management of acute and chronic diseases.
Dr. Sun received his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at UCLA. Prior to his medical training, he worked as an emergency medical technician in Torrance. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from UCLA, graduating cum laude.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Sun loves contributing to medical education by teaching medical students and taking global health trips to places including Belize and Mexico.
Dr. Sun is a South Bay local who graduated as valedictorian from West Torrance High School. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, trying different ethnic foods, watching sci-fi movies and animal documentaries, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

It was great to be at doctor’s office from checking in till I left after booking next appointment in less than 45 minutes. And that doesn’t mean the doctor rushed through my physical. He thoroughly went over my blood work, did a physical exam, and patiently answered all my questions.

A very capable medical student took my medical history and did an examination of my swollen ankle. She was very thorough. Then Dr Sun came in and did an evaluation and ordered an anti inflammatory to reduce pain and swelling and gave me instructions for reducing swelling and resolving the issue. Very good experience overall.

It has been quite a few years having Dr Sun as my Primary Care Doctor. He is the best Primary care doctor I ever had: Knowledgeable, excellent judgment and common sense, courteous, professional, caring, consistent, and supported by a wonderful team. Dr Sun is excellent Listens and explains in an efficient manner. I recommend him and even my son gets his physical with him and he lives in another state The front desk was nice. The phlebotomist was so good I didn’t even feel the needle.

Dr Sun is great! He is very knowledgeable, patient & very very nice. Answer all questions clearly & patiently. I have pockets in my colon so I was very concerned. He showed me pictures of colon pockets. Told me pockets are very common & rarely caused problems . Watch for pain & fever and antibiotics will take care of the problem. That really put my mind at ease!!😊 He even showed me where the bathroom for mine urine test & where I should place the sample. Referral for physical therapist is already done since the therapists have already called me. Prescriptions are always placed quickly whenever I text him!!
