Dr. Richard Cooke is a board-certified primary care physician who practices at UCLA Health | MPTF Toluca Lake location in Burbank. He specializes in Family Medicine, providing routine and preventive care as well as the management of acute and chronic medical conditions.
Dr. Cooke is a native of Minnesota. His interest in math and science led him to pursue degrees in Computer Science and Biology. After working as a software engineer and consultant, he attended medical school at the University of North Dakota. Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Cooke attended residencies in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine in Detroit. He then served as a Family Medicine provider and full-time faculty member with an emphasis on providing care for HIV+ patients and their family members.
Dr. Cooke believes in building partnerships with his patients focusing on evidence-based medicine and shared decision making.
His outside interests include cooking, reading, weight lifting and family time with his partner and two pugs.

I visited because an issue that I had a couple months ago was still happening. He acted like I was putting him out to be seen and told me that I should’ve gone back to a dermatologist who would have referred me to an ENT. He then proceeded to Give me a referral to the ENT. I’m not sure how I would have known what to do in this instance and I didn’t appreciate being made to feel like I did something incorrectly.
