Patrick H. Poquiz, MD

Dr. Patrick Poquiz is a board-certified internal medicine physician and hospitalist for UCLA Health, serving the North Valley Greater Los Angeles area where he manages UCLA patients admitted to specific community hospitals, allowing for continuity of care and providing best practices within the health system.  As a hospitalist, he serves as the attending physician on a multidisciplinary team managing both uncomplicated and complex cases during a patient's hospitalization before transitioning care back to the outpatient primary care physician upon discharge from the hospital.

A lifelong Southern Californian, Dr. Poquiz completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego prior to starting his medical education at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2009.  After obtaining his MD degree in 2013, he moved to Los Angeles where he did both internship and residency at the Olive-View UCLA Medical Center.  Since 2016 he has continued his academic endeavors as an educator and clinician with UCLA Health as a hospitalist and is currently an Associate Clinical Professor for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.  His clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill patients as well as providing education and improving health literacy within the health community population.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Poquiz enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has an affinity towards food and travel, particularly with the diverse Los Angeles cuisine scene and international travel to countries in Europe and Asia.
