About
Dr. Pugh is a licensed clinical health psychologist with a specialization in medical rehabilitation psychology. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, earning his doctorate in counseling psychology, and completed clinical internship at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his clinical health psychology fellowship at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, where he received advanced training in physical medicine and rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, chronic and acute pain and chronic illness. Dr. Pugh is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
Dr. Pugh uses a biopsychosocial approach to patient care, emphasizing the influence of medical, psychological and sociological factors in treatment. He has a special interest in multidisciplinary approaches to health care. He uses a holistic, integrated framework when working with patients, and values culturally informed, evidence-based care. In addition to clinical care, Dr. Pugh delivers interprofessional education and conducts health disparities research, examining socio-demographic and health factors that contribute to treatment outcomes among populations with chronic illness and/or disability.
