Today I understood that my doctor thinks about me outside of my appointments, that he has taken time to study my scans and data and drawn conclusions about treatment effectiveness before he sees me. Today he reviewed results with me, all of it gathered together on the computer screen. He listened to my concerns, and answered my questions. I learned more about how to evaluate a scan/scan report, which served to lessen my anxiety. Dr Berk outlined next-step options for me, asked me to consider them, was ready with a plan. I gained greater confidence in my doctor and myself, and a sense of well-being that, I admit, had been lagging this morning, and so vital to my QOL!

There was virtually no wait-time in the lobby before I was escorted to a treatment room. The doctor appeared very quickly. I appreciated the above; a short wait-time, which communicated that my time was considered valuable by the doctor & office. The doctor was courteous and professional in greeting me and in our discussion of my health situation. He discussed my case and choices of treatment in a straight forward manner, also respecting that any decisions made where mine and that he was there to educare and help me make the best choices possible.

Dr. Berkowitz is the most genuine and easy to talk to practitioner I’ve ever had. He had to tell me that my leukemia numbers have gone up. Which is never a great thing, but he delivered the info with encouragement that I can easily do a few things to bring my numbers back down. He always make sure that all of my questions and concerns are answered and I always leave his office feeling. I have the number one person/doctor that I could possibly have in my corner backing me. My doctor listens which is a rare thing these days. He wants to help me beat this TNBC. Dr. Berkowitz has the best bedside manner. The infusion nurses and all the staff are very professional and are easy to speak to. Why take this cancer journey without Dr. Berkowitz and his staff?

Dr B was organized and prepared to see me. I observed that he is supported by an aware staff; they anticipated what paperwork he might need for our appt and had it ready with my file; they were welcoming. Dr reviewed my scans with me, which I really appreciated bc I don’t have access to these in my chart, and he answered my questions. Some were questions he seemed to have as well, and we will get answers to those with further consultation from radiology before we settle on a treatment. Together. That is what I appreciate most. I think he has a pretty good idea of how he wants to approach my treatment. Yet he isn’t at this point pushing in a direction I am not prepared to go. He encourages positivity and he’s listening and open to questions without shutting me down. It’s a relief. To work with a dr that’s caring for me as a fellow human being on a journey leaves me with more energy for healing and health.
