Maryam Sharifi, MD

Maryam Sharifi, MD, is a board-certified endocrinologist at UCLA Health Encino Specialty Care. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Dr. Sharifi specializes in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, and other complex hormonal conditions. She is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Dr. Sharifi earned her medical degree with high honors, graduating at the top of her class from Tehran University of Medical Science and Health Services. Following medical school, she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She then pursued her fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of New Mexico, further refining her expertise in hormone-related conditions.

Prior to joining UCLA Health, Dr. Sharifi practiced as an endocrinologist at United Health Care/Optum Medical Group, where she also served in a supervisory role for nurse practitioners and certified diabetes educators. Earlier in her career, she served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico, where she received  award recognizing her dedication to patient care and medical education, she is also a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Sharifi has presented her research at national medical conferences and has contributed to peer-reviewed publications on topics including bone health, thyroid disorders, and women’s health.

Dr. Sharifi is honored to serve patients in the Southern California community. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with her family.

She is also a member of professional societies including the American College of Physicians and the Endocrine Society.
