About
Dr. Melody Benjamin is a hematologist and medical oncologist who practices in Ventura. She is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology, and offers patients access to on-site clinical trials and research.
While Dr. Benjamin is interested in breast cancer and cancer prevention, she enjoys being a generalist, and seeing patients with all types of cancer and hematological disorders. She also prides herself on being sensitive to cultural differences and cultural needs, and respecting these nuances when working with patients and their families.
A major focus of Dr. Benjamin's work is integrative oncology. She incorporates genetic counseling and psychosocial support in her patients' treatment plans, and emphasizes lifestyle modifications, such as exercise and healthy eating habits, to support their long-term health.
Dr. Benjamin grew up in Kansas and received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where she also completed her internal medicine residency and her hematology & oncology fellowship. She has been practicing in Ventura County for a decade, and before coming to UCLA Health in 2015, worked for Ventura County Medical Center, and in private practice.
Before medical school, Dr. Benjamin was a practicing pharmacist for five years. To this day, she strives to eliminate the number of medications patients need, and ensures that patients understand the medications prescribed for them.
When she's not working, Dr. Benjamin enjoys hiking and exercising with her children.

What stood out most was the time and attention she gave me. Even though this was just a follow-up appointment, she treated it with the same care and thoroughness as a first-time visit. I go to chemo here. No doctor to see here. My oncologist is called to see if i will get chemo based on my blood work at chemo. Doctor responds as soon as possible 15 minutes to 1/2 hour. The people here are super professional, nice, helpful, informative, sensitive & caring about me & my situation respecting privacy & i sense they are geniune in their interactions with me as I see with other patients.
