Lily Ravel Van Tongeren, MD

Dr. Lily Van Tongeren, known as "Dr. Lily" (she/her), is a LGBTQ+ Healthcare Fellow for the 2025-2026 term. Her clinical interests encompass a wide range of areas, including LGBTQIA+ primary care, trauma-informed pelvic health, adolescent medicine, gender-affirming care, reproductive justice and family planning, HPV-related cancer prevention and screening, addiction medicine, and STI/HIV prevention and treatment. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Lily pursued her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Distinction in General Scholarship. She furthered her education by completing the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program at Johns Hopkins University. Her early career included a role as a Clinical Research Associate in Clinical Cancer Genomics at City of Hope in Duarte, CA. Dr. Lily earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and completed her residency in family medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Cooper University Hospital. During her residency, she distinguished herself as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine. Her dedication to education and inclusivity was recognized with the 2025 STFM Resident Teacher Award, honoring her efforts in advancing LGBTQIA+ cultural competency among medical students, residents, and clinic staff.
