About

Dr. Schachter completed his internal medicine training at Scripps Mercy in San Diego and completed his fellowship at Scripps MD Anderson in San Diego.  

His practice focuses on hematologic malignancies and cell therapies.  This includes leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. He was faculty at Oregon Health and Science University from 2019 to 2023, as part of the hematologic malignancy group and has a number of publications on this subject.  

Dr. Schachter believes in caring for the whole patient and feels honored to be able to be a part of each patient’s cancer journey.  He joined the UCLA Health Cancer Care Center San Luis Obispo in 2023 where he cares for patients with a wide variety of cancers focusing on hematologic malignancies.

In his spare time, Dr. Schachter enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.  He enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, drawing, writing and when he has a chance, sailing.  He tries to share his love of nature, creativity and adventure with his children.

Dr. Schachter was very knowledgeable about my condition. He was up to speed on my recent blood tests and how they diagnosed my current condition. He explained it to me in words and examples that I could understand. I am very pleased with the treatment that I am getting.
