About
Dr. Laura Sue is a general endocrinologist who practices in the UCLA Pasadena office. She sees patients with all types of endocrine disorders and has a clinical interest in diabetes, obesity, and thyroid conditions. She is board certified in endocrinology, obesity medicine, and internal medicine.
Dr. Sue received her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She then completed her internal medicine residency at Kaiser Permanente - Los Angeles Medical Center and her endocrinology fellowship at UCLA. Prior to her medical training, she earned her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Master of Public Health degree from the Yale School of Public Health.
Dr. Sue looks forward to developing long-term relationships with her patients.

Dr. Laura Sue is a joy. I love to talk with her and learn from her. I greatly admire her. I don’t know how she can have so many patients and know who we all are. Everyone in my class loves her and can’t wait to talk with her. It’s very cute to watch grown adults get so excited to talk with Dr. Sue. I’ve been in classes with her since 2023. I’ve never heard one person, not even one person, say anything negative about her. She is a joyful person and an excellent endocrinologist. It seems to me that she gives her all to her patients and her patients, me included, are inspired to give back by trying or by doing the program carefully.

Dr. Sue is helping me to become my best self. All my life I have tried to be a healthy weight. This has meant gaining and losing 50 lbs over and over again until I gained around 100 lbs in one year. This is probably one of the reasons I have heart failure. Anyway, Dr. Sue has given me the single greatest gift of my entire life. She taught me I didn’t gain the weight because I’m lazy or a glutton. Instead, I gained the weight because of heredity and gaining weight is how I deal with stress. She is brilliant, compassionate, professional, fun, and has fabulous bedside manner. I’ve lost 140 lbs and I’m not looking back.

Each week as I eat my meals, even if I’m tempted to eat garbage, I think of Dr. Sue and the hard work she does week after week to help me to learn how to take care of my physical health. Dr. Sue never ceases to AMAZE me. She is brilliant, compassionate, professional, and at the same time she has a really good sense of humor. Most of my doctors do not have senses of humor. She never goes off topic. It’s a medical visit and at the same time it’s fun. I remember our conversations. I always learn something new from her. This program has saved my life and Dr. Sue is an integral part of my transformation. I was 340 lbs and I didn’t want to live anymore. Now I can’t wait to live more and I’m getting close to 200 lbs. Talking with Dr. Sue is life saving. She is kind, compassionate, and thorough. Some of my doctors look at my chart and some have no idea what is going on with me at all. Dr. Sue always knows what is going on with me. She will even ask about it. It is obvious because she cares about me. Dr. Sue had reviewed and was familiar with my health history when she began today’s appointment. She asked probing questions about how I was feeling physically as well as emotionally/mentally. She listened thoughtfully to comments about my observed favorable effects of prescribed medication on my blood pressure. She also thoughtfully listened and discussed with me changes to my medication dosage for my testosterone and about how I was taking my oral thyroid medication. I have a high degree of confidence in the health care provided by Dr. Sue.

Dr Sue is a doctor who listens to my concerns and gives me plans on how to address them. She is personable and warm and seems genuinely interested in me and my well-being. You would think that would be an across-the-board experience with one's doctor, but I'm sorry to say, IT IS NOT! In fact, the opposite is more the case. I appreciate Dr Sue very much and am glad to have found her to be my endocrinologist.

Even though the weight to see this doctor was nearly 9 months, but once I got to see Dr Laura Sue at UCLA, my experience was not disappointing. The staff both on the Call Center and in person I always friendly professional and courteous. Dr Laura Sue was present in terms of listening to my concerns without judgement and coming up with the plan of both of us agree.
