Jennifer L. Burns, CNM

Jennifer Burns earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from the University of Arizona in 1998. She then completed an accelerated Master of Science in Nursing in 2003 through a joint program with Case Western Reserve University and Frontier Nursing University. Most recently, Jennifer achieved her Doctor of Public Health in Health Leadership from the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina, focusing her doctoral research on barriers to skilled birth attendance in rural Haiti. Throughout her extensive career, she has provided full-scope midwifery care in diverse environments, ranging from level 3 tertiary teaching hospitals and Indian Health Services to free-standing birth centers.

As a clinical leader and educator, Jennifer served as the Clinical Director for five years at a free-standing birth center in Phoenix, AZ and has spent over a decade as a board member for Midwives for Haiti, where she has helped train over 30% of the country's maternal health providers. Her commitment to global health equity is further evidenced by her work as a faculty mentor in Bangladesh and her role as the Founder of Nourish Every Child, a non-profit dedicated to orphan prevention. Jennifer is a passionate advocate for reducing maternal health disparities and empowering patients through shared decision-making. Currently based in Newport Beach, she continues to influence the field of maternal and child health through her research and advisory leadership.
